The Spanish and European champions have released a statement announcing the plans which would eventually mean only increasing capacity by just 5,000,
but thorough work would be undertaken to modernise the whole stadium, with vast new walkways and a steeper first tier to improve the viewing experience.
The upgrade, which will reportedly cost in the region of £500m, is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2021/22 season
